The picture that you posted makes the viewer a little frightened. the lighting is dark behind the doll and the viewer cannot see the doll's face; it makes it seem mysterious and the face slightly cryptic. Is there a reason for the shadow over the face? Is it symbolic at all? Also, the doll is wearing a dress that looks like it's from the early 1900's. Is that supposed to add to the unpleasant and uncomfortable feeling one gets when looking at this picture?

The doll in the picture really seems creepy and it makes me think of innocence that is tainted, because the doll looks like it was abandoned in the corner by a little girl that got bored of it. The shadows covering the doll's face make me think its been in the corner and where the shadows cover the doll's face, it looks like there aren't eyes anymore but pools of darkness that really make me think that the doll is thinking of something. The slack and expressionless face the doll where you can't think if the dog is alive or just a thing, adds to the unpleasantness and creepiness of the whole picture.

The subject in this picture, a doll, looks like it may have been cute one day, but is past its prime today. This is partly because the black and white photograph and the old fashioned doll clothes make it look old. Also, the dark lighting takes away all the life from the doll’s face, and gives it a tired and dead appearance. The source of the light is coming from the side of the photograph, which makes the viewer think that something more important is beside the doll, outside of the photograph. This adds to the feeling that the doll has been cast aside. The photo’s composition does not show anything in the background, which also makes the doll seem alone and forgotten—if someone was still playing with it, there would be other toys near it. The photo reminds me of how quickly kids discard toys in our society.

There is flat angle used in this photo, and seems to be that its used to meet with the height of the doll. So your at the same level with the dolls face

This very close up, so you have to stare into the scary face of the doll, it's eyes look empty and as if there's no life left inside of it.

As for lighting this picture is dark all over, there is a faint use of light on the side of the doll, but it's also used with dark shadowing, making it more creepy and scary

Overall, I believe this picture is meant to frighten the viewer, and scare them.I do feel scared looking at it, the use of the dark lighting and close shot do what the photographer set out to do, and that is scare who ever views it.

This dark doll thing is giving me the creeps. Having a "Chuckie" flash-back.
